If we had to choose only one South East Asian country to visit for the rest of our lives, it would have to be Laos. There is something about this diminutive, landlocked place which just makes us – and countless other visitors – smile. What Laos lacks in blockbuster tourist attractions, it makes up for so in many other ways, from the tastiness of its food, to the relaxed charm of its people. Even though it is a one party state, few places in the world feel less oppressed, hence its joint fourth place in our 2015 ethical travel guide to South East Asia.
