This vast region has everything an independent traveller could want, from snow-capped mountains, to tropical beaches, from the remains of ancient civilisations, to buzzing nightlife. Made up of ten countries – Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – as well as a multitude of cultures and peoples, the hardest part of visiting South East Asia is deciding what to leave out. On top of stories about individual countries, we also have ones which focus on the region as a whole.
